Foxtrot Acquired north america rights to samuel maozs foxtrot which israel has submitted as its entry in the foreign language movie oscar race.
The surrealist pic revolves around an Israeli couple told that their son, a soldier, has died, and the son himself, seen manning a remote border. Foxtrot won the Grand Jury prize at the Venice Film Festival as well as eight of Israel’s Ophir Awards, including best film, best director and best director.
The movie was produced by Eitan Mansuri of Spiro Films, Michael Weber and Viola Fügen of Pola Pandora, Cedomir Kolar and Marc Baschet of A.S.A.P. Films and Michel Merkt of KNM, and was co-produced by Jonathan Doweck of Spiro Films and Jamal Zeinal Zade of Bord Cadre films.
The deal, which included SPC also acquiring Latin American and Scandanavian rights, was negotiated between Sony Pictures Classics and The Match Factory with ICM Partners, who co-repped the film.
